RS Acoustics is a consulting firm utilizing expertise in
acoustics, architecture, engineering and music to
create exceptional acoustical environments for the
building and design industry.

Design and administration services include the
following:

Architectural Acoustics
Determining the volume, shape, proportions,
materials and finishes of acoustically critical
spaces to provide an excellent listening
environment for music or speech intelligibility.

Noise Control/Sound Isolation
Develop sound isolation systems for all
acoustically critical spaces including partitions,
floor/ceiling assemblies, and building envelopes
to provide acceptable background noise levels
commensurate for programmed uses.  Provide
clear, cost effective construction methods and
details for incorporation into construction
drawings.

Mechanical System Analysis
Provide recommendations to control noise and
vibration of building mechanical equipment so
that interior noise levels are maintained to
specific criteria.

Home Theatre
Provide design guidance to ensure excellent
listening environments and noise control
construction detailing and information for
important residences.

Performance Testing
Conduct field tests of architectural assemblies
to verify conformance of design objectives or
minimum government standards.

Dramatically transformed in this third version since its
inception in 1958, the theatre perches in the Santa Fe
hills, it's two roofs curving in consonance with the
setting.  As there are no sides to the opera house, the
ceiling must provide all of the acoustical natural
reflections requiring careful design of the curves of the
roof from the downstage area to the upper ceiling.  The
curve of the ceiling follows the seating profile as closely
as possible to provide the best dispersion of sound
energy, constructed with wood ceiling slats with
sufficient mass to reflect low frequency sound energy.
Additionally, acoustical reflectors are located over the
stage to direct sound back don to the orchestra level
seating.
The Dodge Theatre is a state of the
art multi-use entertainment venue
designed for concerts, Broadway
shows, stage shows, boxing, and
conventions.  Seating can be varied
from 1,900 to 5,000 for concerts,
5,500 for sporting or corporate events
with innovative operable sidewalls,
providing an intimate setting for
proscenium events.  Design
challenges include ultra-low velocity
air distribution with the project
mechanical rooms located immediately
adjacent to the stage.
This multi-use project, Brickyard-on-Mill, encompasses
office, residential, and retail occupancies located on
Mill St. in Tempe, Arizona, adjacent to the ASU
campus.  It features nearly 100,000 square feet of
office space and 60,000 square feet of retail and
restaurant space.  The residential building features
retail and restaurant space on the ground floor, office
space on the second floor, with 83 lofts on the top five
levels.  Critical design challenges include controlling
noise levels generated by the restaurants and bars to
maintain an environment suitable for the residences
located in the same building.
